Holidays and leave



Every year, the Executive Board sets the dates of the school holidays. More information about the current holiday schedule:


Educational support staff may only take leave in the school holidays, with the exception of the first and last week of the summer holidays. To compensate for this, they are given 2 compensation days per calendar year. This applies only to educational support staff. 


Short-term leave of absence / Short-term special leave of absence

The CLA for Secondary Education and the CLA for Primary Education lay down various rules regarding short-term leaves of absence. Employees must always request a short-team leave of absence from their manager or his/her substitute. In addition to the rules laid down in the CLA, doctors’ and dental appointments are also registered as short-term leave and treated as such.  If possible, appointments should be scheduled outside working hours and especially outside class times, or at the beginning or end of the day.

Saving leave

Employees can only save up leave if no colleagues are made redundant or displaced. If this is the case, the Executive Board will announce this prior to the request to save leave or prior to the relevant school year (in the case of current cases).

Saved up leave is indicated clearly in an employee’s annual working hours (schedule)
