The Conversation Cycle

A good interview cycle is the basis for quality improvement. That is why it is important that you have a meeting with your manager about your professionalism at least once a year. Issues that may be addressed include your suitability for your position, potential problems you may encounter in your work, and relationships with colleagues and supervisors at work. If you like, you can also request a meeting yourself. Our policy framework 'the development dialogue' offers a framework to have a constructive dialogue with your supervisor about your own development. In the development dialogue, employees are given more responsibility for their personal development, and they can take control of it.

The conversation model is oriented on development. However, sometimes an assessment is needed. In such cases an judgmental approach can be useful, after which a performance review will usually follow. During the assessment interview, your manager will assess your performance. This gives you insight into your strengths and areas for improvement at work. The assessment interview takes place at set times.
